I ran into the issue of now being able to replay my fan remote due to RX region restrictions and wanted to throw the idea out there of letting people unlock the flipper’s full potential, who have their amateur radio licenses. I have my technical license and am legally allowed to broadcast on these frequencies. I believe you can remain in FCC compliance if you offer a unlock feature with a proper warning screen. That way everybody can remain on the official firmware, and those that have received proper licenses can fully use the Flipper.
I know of a large wifi equipment manufacturer that has implemented the same unlock feature in their web UI and the FCC allowed their product to move forward. Once unlocked, they can set the devices to operate on non US channels and / or above the normal regulated broadcast power.
Edit: How is this really any different than buying a usrp, hackrf or other SDR transceiver? Their hardware is not locked by region and marketed as development tools.
