App/Weather Station vs Sub-GHz Scanning?

I used the Weather Station App in the Apps Section and was able to pick up some of my temperature sensors that I have near me. In the app, it doesn’t allow me to save any of the sensors I found, so I went to the Sub-GHz section and tried to do the same scan but doesn’t find any of the sensors.

Am I doing something wrong? I tried frequency hopping and that didn’t help. I was thinking once I pick up one on the Sub-GHz scan that I would be able to see it anytime and see the temp from one of my sensors from my flipper.

Any insight would be great!
Thanks!

It is considered pointless to save weather sensors.
You can determine the parameters (when the signal is transmitted, which frequency, which modulation) from Weather Station and do a Read RAW from Sub-GHz, but why do you want it?

Some are already on GitHub. You may need to be patient while capturing Weather station signals. It may take as long as a minute between transmissions. You must be on the correct frequency when it transmits.

Talking about the Flipper as ‘hacker tool’, it is a possible attack vector for red team.
Some server are monitored by more or less cheap thermometer, that are connected by USB/WLAN to a monitoring solution. Instead of compromise the USB/WLAN, it could be more easy to just fool the weather station with fake signals.

It should only result in false alarms, not break anything. So I’m okay with it.

If someone did that at my home they could set off alarms. My Fridge and Freezer are monitored by that type of sensor. The worst case scenario would be them waking me up but they could get me to disable that alarm. In an enterprise situation perhaps more mischief could be possible. Causing multiple alarms can be used to social engineer the target.

Thanks for chiming in guys. Also as a way to display to a company potential attack surfaces they weren’t away of either brought in by employees for personal use or as a way to demonstrate that IT cheaped out with some devices and introduced vulnerabilities into the environment.

Maybe a way to select and deselect the protocol. I’m not sure I’d want it showing up all the time. Sometimes I’m scanning for a while to get certain captures. Something und configuration settings.
