Hey,
I had a bricked situation while updating the firmware, then I was unable to recover it through DFU .
The DFU usb device didn’t appear in Device Manager etc.
So the issue was that I had several VM running on my host and they were asking to connect the USB to it or to the host.
As the recovery process connect and disconnect the flipper several times it caused timeouts 
so just pause all your VMs before updating or recovering
