Sub-GHz Read detects car remotes, doesn't capture them

I’m a brand-new Flipper Zero user. I am trying out the Sub-GHz > Read function to capture car remotes and it doesn’t work like the manual describes. The signal is detected and the indicator shows it’s fairly strong, but the Flipper Zero doesn’t actually capture it or do anything with it. The manual says press OK and Save after capturing it, but there’s no capture. Does it do that automatically? Is there a button I should press?

Try switching modulation, or doing Read RAW. Beware that car remotes are likely to be uncloneable and, moreover, create you problems if you attempt. @jmr can tell you some sad stories.

So is it the case then that only “if the remote’s protocol is static” then Read can capture it? I have seen videos that mention “rolling codes” when it comes to car remotes and such. I guess I could assume then that if I can’t capture it with Read then it’s one of those.

I am able to pick them up with Read RAW, save and transmit. My vehicles don’t respond but that would make sense.

If the protocol is static, it can be captured by both Read and Read RAW and will work.
If the protocol is well-working dynamic, Read RAW never works and Read may either not work or correctly identify the protocol as unclonable - this is what you’ve likely seen in videos.
